ART COURSES

Programme 2010

Theme: Kaleidoscope
Artistic creations between nature and the man-made
Painting, drawing, and digital photography

26th April - 1st May
29th July - 7th August
16th - 25th September

Theme of the course
In this year’s course we want to encourage the participants to explore the territory of artistic creation in the border field between nature an what man creates. The programme will begin with a tour through the surrounding countryside of the Chianti. The visual information received from thousands of different facets of this kaleidoscopic environment will be the main source of our inspiration. The programme aims at sensitizing and developing the participants’ intuition in using colour, drawing, and painting techniques. Employing traditional techniques as well as experimental methods, we will explore topics that are closely connected with the creative expression in painting.
Nicola Sansò as the course instructor will guide each participant in exploring and practicing techniques such as watercolour, tempera, acrylics, etc. Each participant will be given liberal space to experiment and create, find connections and subtle relationships between the images taken at the beginning with a digital camera, and the painted experiments in new kaleidoscopic patterns.
The participants can work on handmade paper if they wish. All the equipment and materials necessary for making hand-made paper are available at the studio.
At the end of the course there will be an exhibition of all the works.
