WEAVING COURSES
Programme 2010
Theme: Kaleidoscope
Textile creation between nature and innovation
Weaving and textile design
26th April - 1st May
29th July - 7th August
16th - 25th September
Theme of the course
With its magnificent colours and its wealth of shapes nature has always been a source of inspiration for textile design and creation.
In this course, the concept of textile structure will be inspired not only by natural elements, but also by the workings of the kaleidoscope. The participants will explore practically how such a design can be transformed into a novel weave by means of basic weaving techniques. During the course, the chaos of colours and shapes as we find them in nature are turned into kaleidoscopic weaving patterns.
Guided by Anna Silberschmidt, the participants will be able to train their perception of colours, shapes, and structures. They will learn to interpret the elements with textile means, and to use them pointedly in their designs.
As they execute their individual project on the loom, the participants will have the chance to improve their knowledge of design as well as of weaving techniques which will enable them to develop and create their own weaves in many variations all on their own.
